British Canoeing Paddle Sport Safety and Rescue Course (PSRC)
The Paddle sport Safety and Rescue Course aims to provide paddlers with the key safety and rescue skills required to operate safely and to be able to deal with common problems in a sheltered water environment.
The course is designed for all paddlers irrespective of their chosen craft. The objective is to introduce, explore and practice simple strategies and safe skills that can provide the paddlers with the tools to solve common paddling issues.

British Canoeing Paddle Sport Instructor (PSI)
The qualification will support the instructor with practical skills such as kitting up a group and getting afloat, initial familiarisation activities, games and activities to support learning and how to use mini journeys to inspire adventure and exploration. This will be enhanced with support on how these sessions can be delivered in a way that is enjoyable, safe and rewarding.
The Paddle sport Instructor qualification is designed for instructors running paddle sport taster/starter sessions within the safety management systems of clubs, centres or other organisations in:
- Very Sheltered Water environments
- Craft deemed suitable for a first-time experience

Your award will support you to run safe and enjoyable trips, based on your group’s needs and aspirations. You will lead journeys, on sheltered water, for a range of mixed craft.
As a Leader, you can work independently or be deployed by a club, centre or organisation to lead trips and journeys. The purpose of these trips may be wide ranging from educational experiences, social adventures or trying something new.
You will be able to provide British Canoeing Awarding Body Awards and Training such as:
Personal Performance Awards – Paddle Start and Paddle Discover.

MIAS Mountain Bike Leader Level 2
MIAS Level 2 Instructor. After this course you should be confident to lead a group on Wild country terrain up to 600m with access of 30 mins away. The course covers, navigation, route cards, first aid, trail maintenance, access and conservation, group management and leadership, coaching techniques, bike handling skills and the law. You need to be competent on a bike and have some leadership experience. Having your own equipment is beneficial with a good level of fitness. The course runs at Friston and Bedgebury Forest.

RYA Assistant instructor – Dinghy (site specific)
This course is designed to support volunteers and sailors who wish to build their skills and support sailing activities at Buzz Active. This course gives you the skills to assist on sailing courses run at the Buzz Active Eastbourne site, run inhouse by our team of senior instructors.

RYA Powerboat instructor course
Pre-entry assessment
The first day is a skills assessment day. This is to ensure candidates have the basic skills prior to the first day of the course.
The course
Three day course assessed by an independent Trainer on the third day.
Pre requisite qualifications
First aid certificate
RYA Powerboat Level 2
Health declaration form or medical questionnaire
Experience
Five seasons experience of powerboat use, logged (preferably in range of boat types and sizes) OR one season for those who use powerboats as an integral part of their normal full-time occupation.
Outcome
You will be qualified to teach up to and including Powerboat Level 2 under the supervision of the Principal or Chief Instructor. If you hold the Safety Boat Certificate, you may also teach the RYA Safety Boat Course.

The course will be run over five days, from 9 am to 5.30 pm, though sessions can run over.
